How It Began
I’ve always loved movement, from being on school sports teams to dancing competitively from age 7. In 1998, I became a personal trainer and group exercise instructor, hoping to get abs like Janet Jackson. However, despite teaching back-to-back cardio classes and cleaning up my diet, I went from a UK size 10 to a size 14 within a year. The more I exercised and restricted my food, the more I gained weight, felt tired, and fell into the diet-binge cycle. After gaining 30 kg during each of my pregnancies, amazingly, I lost it all within about a year. I had an epiphany: less restriction and balanced amounts of the right type of exercise led to less binging and more sustainable results.
Now, I’ve found a balance between nutrition and exercise. I am passionate about helping other women heal their relationship with food and their bodies, freeing up mental energy to achieve their goals.
My Experience
With over two decades of experience in fitness and wellness, I started my career in 1998 as a group exercise instructor and personal trainer. I've worked with elite clients, including royal families and VIPs, managed health clubs, and coordinated studios in many of the UK's major chains.
My teaching repertoire includes dance, Pilates, spinning, conditioning, and more. I've run specialised postnatal and Pilates programs in Dubai and Saudi Arabia. My qualifications range from diplomas in fitness training, sports therapy, and rehabilitation to certifications in various fitness disciplines. My extensive experience ensures a holistic approach to women's health and fitness.
Enthusiasm for Women's Fitness
Over the years, I realised that training a woman's body requires a unique approach due to fluctuating hormones. Women's brain chemistry, athletic performance, fat-burning ability, and response to foods change week by week. Traditional advice often overlooks this, demanding women's bodies behave like men's.
I aim to offer solutions that align with female hormones, whether it's your monthly cycle, pregnancy, postnatal period, perimenopause, or menopause. Embrace your hormones and work with them to understand and support your body at every stage.
Female Empowerment
I grew up with two incredible role models: a strong, matriarchal grandmother with a fiery "let's get the job done" attitude and a positive, joyful mother who was my biggest cheerleader, always spreading optimism and support. They were pillars of the community, demonstrating the power of women supporting each other.
This environment of strong, happy women coming together for collective empowerment shaped my values. I am ardent about spreading these values to a broader community, fostering female empowerment and collective evolution.
Latest Research
I'm passionate about understanding the intricacies of the female body. Fascinated by its complexity, I continually seek the latest research and insights from experts like physios, biomechanics, nutritionists, instructors, therapists, shamans, and priestesses. What captivates me most is the holistic connection, how each part influences the other. The female body is a mysterious labyrinth, becoming more intriguing with every new discovery.
You Are "Why" You Eat
Women's health goes beyond just nutrition and exercise; it's about balancing hormones, mental health, energetic wellness, relationships, lifestyle and rest. Each aspect is interconnected, and addressing habits without understanding their root causes falls short. For example, inconsistent workout issues might stem from poor sleep, and evening snack routines could be about self-validation rather than just a craving. By exploring the "why" behind our habits, we can address the real issues and achieve lasting wellness.
